Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2023: A Historic Finale to the F1 Season

By

The 15th edition of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw a historic finale to the F1 season in Abu Dhabi, with over 170,000 fans traveling from across the globe to attend the region's biggest event weekend on Yas Island.

The Abu Dhabi GP weekend in November 2023 featured an incredible line-up of thrilling motorsport action on track and a world-class collection of entertainment offerings away from the circuit, with the fan favourite Yasalam After-Race Concerts featuring 5 AAA artists across four nights alongside the #YasAllIn ticket addition for 2023 to explore the capital across F1 weekend.

The 2023 edition of the #AbuDhabiGP weekend brought together the unique elements of the UAE's capital into one weekend, with 5 world-class international music acts performing across four nights for this year's Yasalam After-Race concerts, alongside all-new experiences for the milestone 15th edition.

Through the #YasAllIn ticket, fans were able to enjoy the ultimate weekend in Abu Dhabi with complimentary access to Yas Island's thrilling theme parks as well as the capital's cultural landmarks such as Qasr Al Watan and Louvre Abu Dhabi in addition to witnessing the incredible Abu Dhabi GP action.

Around the grounds, fans enjoyed over 15 of the UAE's top F&B hotspots located around Yas Marina Circuit's 5.28km track, combining world-class culinary experiences with stunning vantage points from the new Deck at Two and fan favourites in Deck at Nine, Luna Lounge and Turns at West.

As part of the UAE's Year of Sustainability, Ethara and Yas Marina Circuit unveiled a series of new sustainability initiatives to support the region's biggest event weekend. The all-new LED lighting system, introduced earlier in 2023 to support the F1® season finale, aided in reducing total power usage by 40%, with a range of further green-powered systems introduced across the venue.

The efforts resulted in Yas Marina Circuit being re-awarded the FIA's Three-star Certification in recognition of the venue’s environmental performance and its continued environmental management and sustainability evolution.

Fans were also introduced in 2023 to the all-new Abu Dhabi GP app, designed to provide visitors with the ultimate guide to the F1® weekend in Abu Dhabi. The platform provided the ideal hub for fans to keep up to date on all the latest information across the event, but also housing their tickets as part of the organisation’s drive to reduce the need for physical tickets as in previous years.

The app also features an innovative sustainability-first initiative, incentivising the thousands of fans inside the Yas Marina Circuit venue to reduce waste, reuse and recycle for the chance to win exclusive discounts and experiences at the venue for the coming year.

The 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi GP weekend saw history made on track across a number of events, with the Bonhams On The Grid: The Abu Dhabi GP Auction seeing over 30 of the world’s most desired collector cars, including F1® racecars and state-of-the-art supercars, up for grabs on Saturday evening of the F1® weekend. As the F1® season came to a close, Max Verstappen would take his third-straight Abu Dhabi GP victory and his 19th race win of the season, while the weekend featured incredible success for Yas Heat Racing with the team’s first ever wins in the Formula 4 UAE Trophy Round and 5 Yas Heat drivers on track for the opening action ahead of the new season. Yas Heat’s Keanu Al Azhari would finish on top of the podium with victories in the opening two races to earn the team’s first ever wins, while Yas Heat ambassador Rashid Al Dhaheri would earn his first podium in Yas Heat colours to mark an incredible weekend for the Yas Marina Circuit-based team.

The weekend also featured a debut for Yas Heat for Emirati star Amna Al Qubaisi, racing alongside her sister and returning Yas Heat star, Hamda Al Qubaisi, while new signing Zack Scoular also made his F4 UAE debut at Abu Dhabi GP weekend. The F1® weekend would wrap up in style, with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icons Foo Fighters making their long-awaited debut in the UAE on Sunday following the thrilling finale to the Abu Dhabi GP.

The 2024 edition of the Abu Dhabi GP weekend will take place from 5th to 8th December, with more information on tickets available at www.abudhabigp.com.
