This year marks the 15 th edition of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and it’s shaping up to be our most outstanding edition yet, reflecting the sport’s soaring popularity worldwide. Formula 1 is not just a sport; it’s a beacon for a youthful, experience-hungry audience. But where do they come from?

Insights from Neilson Sports reveal that a significant portion of Formula 1 enthusiasts flocking to Abu Dhabi hail from Britain. Delving into the demographics, 68% of the non-UAE resident fans were European, with Brits making up 39%. The event’s magnetic pull is evident, with 51% of these fans stepping foot in Abu Dhabi for the first time during the F1 weekend, highlighting the Grand Prix’s role in boosting tourism and advancing various sectors like hospitality, retail, and attractions.

The preference for luxury was clear, with most visitors opting for five-star accommodation in Abu Dhabi and Yas Island, averaging a 4-night stay. Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive, praising Abu Dhabi’s warm hospitality, vibrant entertainment, and family-friendly experiences. Additionally, the city’s readiness to host events of such magnitude didn’t go unnoticed, with visitors 85% more likely to consider Abu Dhabi for future vacations and 90% inclined to recommend it as a travel destination.
