Transforming everyday spaces into the extraordinary

The Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial is one of the key highlights on the art calendar, bringing to life the cultural and historical significance of the city in a way few other events can manage. Ethara works closely with the Department of Culture & Tourism – Abu Dhabi to realise their vision of an event that speaks to the national heart and character of the city, and celebrates its public spaces.

As a presentation of the collision of modernism and indigenous practices, showing how tradition can thrive alongside a society that is future focused, the Biennial transforms everyday spaces into stages for creative expression, where familiar landmarks are reimagined through the eyes of internationally celebrated artists.

The event shines a spotlight on local talent while also welcoming international voices, blending these differing perspectives into a dynamic cultural tapestry. Artworks span a rich spectrum, from sculpture and painting to immersive installations, performances, video and photography. At its core, the Biennial is a celebration of inclusivity that invites artists and audiences alike to reflect on the stories of public spaces, social change and cultural identity. Real moments of cultural authenticity that matter.
