THE SYNAPTIK
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE MOMENT YOU REALISED YOU WANTED TO PURSUE MUSIC FULL TIME?
I was in the United States finishing my elective year in medicine, in Roswell Park, in psychiatry and neurology, and I knew I was very unhappy. It was at that moment when I’ve decided that I have to change my focus to music, solely.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE MUSIC THAT YOU MAKE?
My music is my personal crutch to deal with and express how life makes me feel. And I constantly have different kind of emotions and feelings. So, the outcome is different every time, and I absolutely love it.
WHAT ARE SOME KEY ELEMENTS THAT DRIVE YOU TO CONTINUE MAKING MUSIC?
Definitely how I feel when making music, and the drive to be the best at what I do, and of course provide the best from it to my family and my people.
Example Text
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE BIGGEST MOMENT OF YOUR CAREER SO FAR?
I can’t think of a specific moment right now. I think “biggest moments” are more often with real people here and there. A moment where I definitely thought of as a big win was getting invited to Harvard to do a speech in the Arab alumni conference.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS WHEN WRITING OR MAKING MUSIC? HAS IT ALWAYS BEEN THE SAME?
I feel I just love to take life in. Get up and get out of the house daily, then come back home with my senses filled with new experiences and information, and naturally, the art just comes out. The step by step process is different every time, and explaining it makes the experience less magical to myself. One thing I know though, I usually record in my bedroom, with a small setup. So numero uno: I have to be very comfortable.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE VENUE TO PERFORM IN? WHERE HAVE YOU PERFORMED MOST RECENTLY?
My favorite venue to perform at is KED in Beirut, I did my first performance there in 2018, and since then, I feel like we have built a nice community, so whenever I’m there, I feel at home. I have performed the most in Palestine, where I currently live.n's life with my lyrics and/or voice, that's the ultimate win for me. I want to leave a positive impact on people, both on stage and off.
IF YOU COULD SHARE THE STAGE WITH ANY ARTISTS, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
I would love to share the stage with Kendrick Lamar, because that would inspire me everyday forever.
YOU HAVE QUITE A FEW KEY HIGHLIGHTS IN YOUR CAREER ALREADY. CAN YOU TELL US WHICH WAS YOUR FAVOURITE ONE FROM RECENT YEARS AND WHY?
Performing in Dubai for the first time was amazing, also going to Saudi Arabia for the first time. Being featured on the track list of the new Need for Speed game is pretty cool, since I'm a huge gamer, I’m very thrilled about that. Dropping my second album was also a highlight. Seeing and hearing the reactions from the fans is also unforgettable.
WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS DO YOU SEE YOURSELF ACHIEVING IN THE COMING YEARS?
I always aim to be a better artist tomorrow, executing my vision more efficiently, and keep achieving milestones.
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK WITH FROM THE REGION THAT YOU HAVEN’T WORKED WITH IN THE PAST? (YOU CAN NAME MORE THAN ONE PERSON)
To name a few: Dafenci, Soulja, Samara, Snor, Katybon, Husayn, Wingii.
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE ANOTHER MUSICIAN EVER GAVE YOU?
“Don’t think what it’s going to be about, just go out and live your life and make your music, it’ll be about what it should be about”.
DESCRIBE YOUR FAVOURITE INTERACTION WITH A FAN.
I had a show in a tiny venue in Bamberg, Germany in 2018, and a fan came to me after I was off stage and hugged me crying, telling me how my music helped him immensely through his suicidal depression. And in my last time in Berlin in 2022. I met him at a friends house, he was my friend’s friend, and he is doing great now.
WHAT DOES YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN THE REGIONAL ARTIST SPOTLIGHT MEAN TO YOU?
I think it’s a step in the right direction. We got people in the region who worked with RAS and gave us really good feedback on their partnership. Just glad they’re ready to hop on board with us for this ride.
